Dogmatix

From The Asterix Project

Dogmatix is a fictional small, white dog, with a black tail and black ears, who lived in the year 50 BC. He was created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. His name is a pun on the English word "dogmatic". In France, Dogmatix is called "Idéfix". Dogmatix first appeared in the fifth "Asterix" book, entitled "Asterix and the Banquet", in which Dogmatix met Asterix and Obelix outside a butcher's shop in Lutetia. He then joined them on their adventures all around Gaul. It was Obelix, who gave Dogmatix his name, and it was also Obelix who adopted the dog. Dogmatix often comes in very useful on Asterix's many adventures. Dogmatix howls with despair whenever a tree falls. Due to the popularity of the character, a spinnof series of sixteen books were released, entitled "Dogmatix".
